SYNERGY Exchange fully loaded

Dear interested reader,

As you know we started early in the project duration with the conceptualization of an Online Platform that brings MEOs and VETs together, to exchange information, knowledge, and experiences. We decided to name this platform SYNERGY Exchange (click here to get referred).

The work on the platform is finished now, and we can proudly present you the following functions:

  • MEOs and VETs can create their own account – for free, of course.
  • You can create, join, and interact within groups which are called Micro Social Networks. Here, you can decide whether any person can join the group or if there is a restricted access (e.g. invite only).
  • Authors can upload their learning resources on the website, to circulate them there within their networks or to share them with any person registered on the website.
  • The users can access a suite of several dozens of learning resources. For free!
  • Users can exchange within the networks using forums.

Feel free to create your own account on the platform, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you encounter any problems.

Synergy - Scribble

The results of SYNERGY are becoming much more concrete. A hugh group of learners and enterprises is interested to share skills and know how on the SYNERGY platform. The transfer of knowlegde is one of the biggest strength of the successful project approch.

SYNERGY on Didacta 2016

In the middle of Febuary 2016 Prof. Dr. Marc Beutner and the team of his chair presented the project Synergy on the educational fair Didaca in Cologne. In addition to the discussions with a huge range of interested teachers the fair opened also the chance to discuss with educational experts. This lead us to a really positive feedback on SYNERGY.

Mini-Format-Learning Resource structure

Dear SYNERGY visitors,

Within the project the partners are going to develop several learning materials called Mini-Format-Learning Resources. Overall, we have three different sets of resources:

Set 1: Within the SYNERGY project it is planned to engage micro-enterprise owners to share learning materials on the SYNERGY Exchange platform. These resources adress local learning needs. In the project it is planned that in each country the so called local sub-groups develop six different learning resources that are shared on the platform then.

Set 2: To have an initial stock of resources the project partners will create six resources per country that adress the international learning needs, as outlined in the Summary Audit Report.

Set 3: The Induction to Pedagogy is a curriculum that plans to qualify the participants of the SYNERGY Exchange in regard to the development and evaluation of learning resources. Therefore, the partners will create short videos that cover all of the contents outlined in the Induction to Pedagogy. Overall, there will be about 24 resources.

All of the resources developed will adhere a common structure that was build based on didactical, pedagogical, and technical considerations with the aim to foster learning best. The structure looks as follows:

As you can see each resource has four different phases. In the first phase the learners will introduced into the learning resource, they will get some information about the author, and they will be familiarized with the objectives of the resource. Following, the actual learning content will be conveyed which should primarily be practically oriented. In a third stage it is planned to reflect on what has been learned, and to contextualize the learning contents so that the learners can transfer what they hav learned to their given real-life context. Lastly, the learners will be assessed informally with the aim to provide them self-evaluation opportunities. The learners shall become aware of their learning needs, and the author will support them in doing so by providing hints regarding other resources that have a similar focus, or that focus on a certain aspect more in depth.

An great advantage of this structure is that it is easy to apply to any resource format. It can be used to structure learning contents indepedently of the used medium like, e.g., case studies, worksheets, videos, podcasts, etc.

Status update: What is the current status of the project?

Dear SYNERGY-enthusiasts,

more than a year passed by since the SYNERGY project started. Therefore, we want to provide you with the latest news regarding the project, and the outputs developed.

  1. One of the first Intellectual Outputs to be developed were the National Audit Reports (field-based), and the National Research Reports (desk-based). these have been created by all partners, with exception of our technical partners. Furthermore, the findings of the national reports have been comprised to a Summary Audit Report, and a Summary Research Report. The Summary Reports can be downloaded here: German, English.
  2. A major aim of the project is to engage micro-enterprise owners and their employees to exchange information, knowledge, and learning materials on the SYNERGY Exchange platform. To safeguard the quality of the learning materials that are exchanged, we created a Pedgogic Strategy that outlines the necessary knowledge and skills, and we furthermore created an Induction to Pedagogy programme. The Induction to Pedagogy is to understand as a curriculum that addresses the learning needs outlined in the Pedagogic Strategy. The learning contents of the Induction to Pedagogy are conveyed by using videos that will be available in all languages, and they are accessible via the Exchange platform as well. Currently, only the videos are not complete yet, but we are progressing well, and plan to have them done by February.   3. The consortium agreed to have a common structure that lays behind the so called Mini-Learning-Format Resources (MLFR). MLFR are essentially the resources that are shared on the Exchange platform, and they are furthermore the basis for the resources related to the Induction to Pedagogy. You are invited to have a look on the structure HERE.
  4. The SYNERGY Exchange platform is recently available in a work-in-progress status, but the progress is great and we are keen to have the platform finished soon. You can access the platform via http://synergyexchange.eu.
  5. We are not only collaborating with micro-enterprise owners, but VET professionals as well. One of the projects aim is to provide them with a Train-the-Trainer curriculum that leads to a QQI Level 6 awarding. This curriculum covers certain vital topics related to the creation of good training programmes that are bespoke to the target groups needs. A first version of this curriculum is finished, and it is currently in the finalization-process so that we can proudly present it, and the corresponding learner handbooks in February when the training event takes place.

We really got things done, and we are optimistic that we will have created great outcomes and impact at the end of the project. We will keep you informed regarding the further progress.
